Special FeaturesThe firm uses computer aided drafting systems, having (6) work stations using current Cad and Auto Cad drafting software. In addition, engineering software programs allow us to optimize mechanical and electrical systems. Some of these programs are Trane Trace Energy Analysis, Duct Design, Elite Hydraulic Sprinkler and Lighting Software Programs.

The firm of A. H. Roy & Associates Limited is a multi-disciplined Consulting Engineering group that has been in business for 40 years. It has worked primarily in the design of mechanical and electrical systems in buildings. At the present time there are 2 registered Mechanical Engineers, 1 registered Electrical Engineer and a support staff of 5 people which includes drafting, secretarial, inspection, etc.
Over the past number of years, three (3) Regional Hospitals have been designed by the firm; St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, Valley Regional Hospital; Kentville and Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. The value of each project was, $30, $40 and $90 million, respectively. We have also been involved in renovations and construction projects in many of the hospitals in Nova Scotia.
For each of these projects our firm prepared preliminary design packages, then proceeded to design and contract supervision of all mechanical and electrical systems including plumbing, sprinkler, medical gases, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, automatic controls, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, nurse call, security and communication.
The Firm has also completed design and supervision for a great number of University buildings, Schools, Community Colleges including Marconi Campus, Strait Campus Pictou Campus and Akerley Campus, Senior Citizens Housing, Commercial and Institutional Buildings, Office Buildings and Justice Department oriented buildings. We have also completed design on a number of recreation facilities including the St. F.X.U. Millennium Center and the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.
A number of industrial projects have also been completed including work on a number of mining projects, design of electrical distribution system at Pioneer Coal, Martin Marietta Quarry, design of the Stora Scalehouse as well as office renovations within the complex and work on the Cape Breton Regional Incinerator.
